The best Honduran coffee is Strictly High Grown (SHG) (1,350+ meters above sea level). The altitudes allow the coffee to grow slowly, increasing the mineral and nutrient uptakes and developing a fuller, more robust flavor of coffee. Honduras has classifications for Bird Friendly and Shade Grown coffee, as well.
In 2017, a Honduran lot garnered the highest price ever paid for a Cup of Excellence coffee in any country: $124.50 per pound (approximately $56.50 per kg).
